Upcoming Free Technical Webinar: Additive Manufacturing of Large-Scale Parts for Space
By Beth Sharb on Thursday, February 25th, 2016
EWI is offering another free technical webinar soon. Ian Harris will present Additive Manufacturing of Large-Scale Parts for Space on Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. EST. You can register here. Registration is open to the public.
Additive manufacturing of large structural components in the space industry has many advantages, including minimizing costs of building large parts, integrating features that would otherwise be welded to the main structure, reducing lead time for production of the parts, and optimizing each section of the structure for its specific application.
The webinar will demonstrate how AM part microstructure can be developed, identify how to control the mechanical properties of an AM part, and provide guidelines for designing and building with DED and UAM.
As Technical Director, Ian Harris is focused on the Space Exploration market. He brings both his unique industry insight and his technical expertise to customers as they seek to improve their processes, productivity, and competitiveness. His research has resulted in more than 150 technical reports, papers, and book chapters, and he has more than 30 years of experience in applied research and business development for commercial and government clients.
