LIFT Plans to Begin Funding for Technology Projects

The Detroit Free Press recently interviewed Larry Brown, former director of government programs at EWI and current head of Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT), for an update on the activities of the new center. Detroit-based LIFT, founded by EWI, The Ohio State University, and the University of Michigan, is preparing to award funds for its first set of technology projects this month. According to Larry, they will likely include a new casting process that would involve high-strength parts with inner walls, as well as a program involving the joining of dissimilar metals.
