Congratulations to EWI principal engineer Yu-Ping Yang who is a co-author of a recently published article in the Journal of Materials Engineering and Peformance. Yu-Ping and colleagues from Southwest Jiaotong University in China addressed the significant problem of stress corrosion cracking of welded joints of 6005A-T6 aluminum alloy in high-speed trains. In this study, ultrasonic impact treatment was applied successfully to control the residual stress of the welded joints.
The July 2016 published article, “Ultrasonic Impact Treatment to Improve Stress Corrosion Cracking Resestance of Welded Joints of Aluminum Alloy,” is available from Springerlink. EWI Members may request a copy from the EWI Library through Member Central.
