EWI is pleased to offer its FUNDAMENTALS OF WELDING ENGINEERING course three times in 2024.
This course provides engineers and technicians with a broad overview of welding technology. Sessions are organized into modules discussing welding processes, including resistance and solid-state, laser, and most arc welding processes; welding design and mechanical testing; welding metallurgy and weldability; and nondestructive evaluation. In addition to in-class lectures, the course includes hands-on arc welding of test plates and inspection of welds and demonstrations of other welding processes.
There are two course formats available to participants: a five-day comprehensive course held at EWI’s headquarters in Columbus, OH, and a three-day condensed class held at EWI’s Buffalo Manufacturing Works facility in Buffalo, NY. The five-day class is specifically structured around qualifying a welding procedure to meet the requirements of both ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1-Structural Welding Code – Steel. The final day of the comprehensive course concentrates on completing procedure qualification records (PQR), welding procedure specifications (WPS), and welder qualification test records to meet the requirements of both codes.
Classes are scheduled for the following dates:
- March 18-22, 2024 — Comprehensive (five-day) course, Columbus, OH
- June 25-27, 2024 — Condensed (three-day) course, Buffalo, NY
- September 23-27, 2024 — Comprehensive (five-day) course, Columbus, OH
