EWI, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has been helping manufacturers innovate since 1984. In recent years, we’ve expanded to two new locations, giving our customers throughout the country greater access to our technology, resources, and manufacturing services. Lately, our New York and Colorado facilities have been making headlines.
Buffalo Manufacturing Works, our first expansion location, opened its doors in 2015. One of its primary focus areas is additive manufacturing. Recently, Buffalo Manufacturing Works led EWI efforts to win funding for a new center of excellence related to 3D printing in manufacturing sponsored by ASTM. Operated in collaboration with Auburn University and NASA, the center will create a global innovation hub that advances technical standards, related R&D, education and training for additive manufacturing.
Also in the news is SHIFT, a Buffalo Manufacturing Works initiative aimed toward small to mid-sized manufacturers (SMMs) in Western New York. The objective of the program, which is free of charge, is to help companies identify technologies to help them innovate and compete effectively in the global market. To date, SHIFT has engaged with 43 SMMs.

On the western frontier, EWI Colorado has been drawing the attention of the manufacturing industry. Our Loveland, Colorado, lab opened in late 2016, and has been an instrumental participant in the Colorado FourFront project for advanced manufacturing. Its facility serves as a Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Association (CAMA) Fuse Center, which enables businesses to connect and innovate remotely, develop new business opportunities, implement training and educational programs, and share B2B information throughout the region and beyond. CAMA recently featured EWI Colorado in a video about Colorado FourFront.

These programs demonstrate just a few of the ways that EWI’s newer locations are making an impact locally, regionally, and nationally.
