The ability to advance model phase transformations in metals during welding enables design engineers to optimize material selection and joining processes in the earliest stages of product development.
Techniques based on certain analytical equations can predict phase transformations. These methods are part of EWI’s overall ICME approach* to material behavior modeling. EWI associates Alber Sadek, Rafael Giorjão, and Jerry Gould have written Application of Analytical Microstructural Modeling Tools for Assessing Diffusion-controlled Phase Transformations as part of EWI’s technical paper series on using ICME as an essential framework for understanding material behavior.
