As Buffalo Manufacturing Works continues to grow, so does industry interest in our evolving activities there. EWI’s western New York hub received more recognition lately in two articles appearing in internationally recognized trade journals. It’s great to see so much excitement about the work we’re doing to help local and national clients increase their manufacturing competitiveness.
“Moving Additive Manufacturing Forward,” a featured article in the September issue of The Fabricator, discusses our unique holistic approach to developing complete additive manufacturing (AM) solutions for demanding real-world applications. This piece outlines our start-to-finish methodology, which encompasses not only process development but also powder characterization, design for AM, topology optimization, and inspection of complex components using cutting-edge techniques such as computed tomography (CT). 
In addition, EWI Technology Leader Ron Brown’s “Answering Automation Challenges” in the September issue of The American Welding Society’s Welding Journal discusses how our Feasibility Pilot Factory Floor minimizes many of the risks commonly associated with innovation. This unique capability allows our customers to effectively assess candidate automation technologies on their components, and receive guidance from a team of unbiased experts before choosing their approach and making a significant financial investment.
