The EWI Strategic Technology Committee for Oil & Gas (STC) was formed to bring industry leaders together to further research into materials and welding issues, and to address future industry needs. Bill Mohr, Principal Engineer for Structural Integrity, provides an overview of the Committee’s recent activities in his article EWI Strategic Technology Committee for Oil & Gas: Research for 2016. In addition to current STC work, Mohr discusses plans for future research topics including optimal design of material requirements to prevent brittle fracture, and improved inspection methods using phased-array ultrasonic testing.
