Six EWI associates were recently published in Science and Technology of Welding & Joining. Their article, “Development of Spot Weld Failure Parameters for Full Vehicle Crash Modelling,” is in the April 2013 issue.
In the article, the authors presented a cost- and time-effective process to create spot-weld failure parameters for failure models implemented in LS-DYNA. The process includes a design-of-experiments approach, welding and testing, finite element modeling, statistical analysis, vailidation, and implementation.
