The EWI Forming Center will present an Advanced Sheet Metal Forming Technology workshop on October 9, 2019, in Columbus, OH. This year, EWI is pleased to co-sponsor this event with the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA). Members of the EWI Forming Center Consortium and PMA will receive a discounted rate for registration to the workshop.
The event will bring together OEMs, stampers, material producers, forming equipment manufacturers, simulation software developers, lubricant suppliers, and researchers to discuss important issues related to the current practice and advancement of sheet metal forming technology.
Technical presentations and discussions will include:
- Recent advances in cold, warm, and hot stamping technologies
- Industry 4.0 applications for sheet metal forming (such as machine learning and in-line monitoring)
- Industrial applications for GEN3 Steel and its technical merits/issues
- Edge cracking – evaluation, prediction, and elimination
- Successful applications of the servo-motor press in aluminum and AHSS forming
- Forming simulations to consider the variation of the material properties and process conditions
The workshop will kick off on Tuesday, October 8 at 4:00 p.m. with an EWI facility tour followed by a 5:00 p.m. welcome reception at EWI Headquarters in Columbus. Technical presentations and discussions will run from 8:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9 at the nearby Fawcett Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.
