_w1a2301EWI is pleased to announce that Frank Medina has been promoted to Additive Manufacturing (AM) Leader and will oversee the AM technology focus area for the company across its three locations. He will continue to be based at Buffalo Manufacturing Works. Medina joined EWI in early 2016 and has since played a key role in building world-class AM capabilities and technology at the organization over the last year.

“Frank Medina has exceeded our high expectations for him as a leader in EWI’s additive manufacturing technology focus area,” said Michael Ulbrich, President of Buffalo Manufacturing Works. “He has been effective in client engagement, innovative in project solution development, and instrumental in growing our AM capabilities throughout the organization.”

Tom McGaughy, EWI Director of Technology adds, “Frank recognizes how AM technologies are transforming the manufacturing landscape. We look forward to seeing him execute his vision for how our organization will be proactive in helping manufacturers innovate.”

Medina earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), a leading multi-disciplinary engineering program.

Prior to joining EWI, he worked at Arcam where he managed its North America relationships and R&D activities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

“I’m very fortunate to work for a company like EWI that empowers my team with world-class resources. We are uniquely positioned to help manufacturers integrate new AM applications, deliver better products, and compete effectively in the global marketplace,” said Frank Medina. “In early spring, we are going to add yet another leading-edge AM machine – the EBAM 110 from Sciaky – to our facility. There are only five in existence and we will have one located at Buffalo Manufacturing Works.”
