EWI to Host Free Webinar on Designing for Additive Manufacturing

April 19, 2017

Picture3On Tuesday, April 25 at 1:00pm, EWI will host “Design for Additive Manufacturing: Considerations and Constraints,” a free webinar presented by  Rutuja Samant, Project Engineer for Additive Manufacturing (AM).

Many people believe that with AM – popularly known as 3D printing – a simple click of a button will reproduce a part of any complexity. Though this might be true in some cases, most parts currently being manufactured with traditional processes cannot easily be “remade into” additively manufactured components. For best results, parts should be redesigned to take advantage of AM processes including pre- and post-production operations.

Design for AM2This online seminar will highlight material properties and limitations that must be considered when designing for different metal additive technologies such as laser-powder bed fusion, electron beam-powder bed fusion, laser-direct energy deposition, metal binder jetting, and electron beam-direct energy deposition. In addition to AM process considerations, the webinar will also discuss design software tools available to take advantage of the additive technologies and the current state of the industry.

“Design for Additive Manufacturing: Considerations and Constraints” is free to the public, but advanced registration is required. To sign up today, click here.
