Innovation can be really challenging but it’s also a lot of fun, as seen with our latest endeavor: a fully 3D-printed model submarine. The sub offers a dynamic demonstration of several of EWI’s additive manufacturing (AM) processes. The sheer size and unique features of the submarine not only display the innovative technology being used at EWI, but they also have created a real conversation starter when we hit the road for trade shows!
The idea for this four-foot sub came about after our team noticed that our demonstration parts were feeling slightly dated. They quickly found something that would highlight the range of EWI’s capabilities while also engaging trade show attendees. The key attraction to EWI’s model submarine lies in additive manufacturing, a set of processes that fabricate objects layer-by-layer using various materials.
