Innovative Methods for Assessing Pipeline Integrity — New Article

February 6, 2017

fig-1Pipeline integrity assessment is a key concern for oil and gas companies, energy and pipeline associations, and governmental regulatory agencies. Two specific areas of interest are quantifying the severity of mechanical damage in pipelines, and improved prediction methods for running fracture control. EWI has developed innovative modeling solutions for each of these applications. Research results were presented in Innovative Methods for Assessing Pipeline Integrity by Xian-Kui Zhu, EWI Principal Engineer, at the 11th International Pipeline Conference and Exhibition, held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This paper provides an overview of these unique modeling approaches as well as the results of validation testing.
