EWI’s new layer-heating approach allows efficient and effective prediction of the evolution of temperature, stress, strain, and distortion in L-PBF components to help manufacturers optimize designs, process parameters, and build sequences to minimize distortion.
Recent research shows that refractory metal interlayers in combination with two forge welding processes, resistance mash seam welding (RMSeW) and upset welding (UW), can be to create dissimilar weld joints. This paper provides an overview of each process, along with discussion on resultant macrostructure and bond quality.
