Just Published: Finite Element Creep-Fatigue Analysis of a Welded Furnace Roll for Identifying Failure Root

December 23, 2015

EWI principal engineers Yu-Ping Yang and Bill Mohr were published in the November issue of the Journal of Materials Engineering & Technology.

In “Finite Element Creep-Fatigue Analysis of a Welded Furnace Roll for Identifying Failure Root,” the authors focus  on preventing the failure of engineering components operating under high temperature and cyclic loading.  Finite element analyses, including a heat transfer analysis and a creep-fatigue analysis, was conducted to model the cyclic thermal and mechanical process of a furnace roll in a continuous hot-dip coating line.  The results are discussed in the article.
