Joining EWI in 2006, Marc “Arc” Purslow works as an applications engineer in EWI’s Arc Welding group. Marc has worked extensively developing the tandem GMAW process and has conducted research ranging from high-speed welding of sheet metal to high deposition-rate narrow-groove welding of thick sections. Marc also has significant experience with single-wire and multi-wire SAW, GMAW cladding, GMAW pulse waveform development, submerged arc and electroslag strip cladding, robotic programming, and welding fixture design.
Background and Project Experience
Marc joined EWI in January of 2006 as a Technician in the Arc Welding Group while pursuing his undergraduate degree in welding engineering. During this time, he conducted research on high-speed arc welding of sheet metal using tandem GMAW. Marc also worked in the Design, Controls, and Automation group were he gained valuable experience in the design and fabrication of equipment and fixtures for welding applications. Upon completion of his B.S., Marc was promoted to Project Engineer and was promoted to Applications engineer shortly thereafter.
In addition to his role of applications engineer, Marc fulfills an additional role at EWI of Arc Welding inventor Coach. In this role Marc assists fellow engineers in the development of cutting-edge arc welding innovations with a focus on developing ideas which will have a direct positive impact on the manufacturing competitiveness of EWI’s customers.
Marc is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
