William Evans, a student in The Ohio State University’s Welding Engineering Program, has won the 2017 EWI Award. The prize is given annually to an outstanding OSU senior who has demonstrated a passion for the advancement of welding and manufacturing technology through exceptional research accomplishments. Will is currently an intern at EWI and will be graduating from OSU in May.
The EWI-sponsored award was one of 12 presented at the OSU Department of Materials Sciences and Engineering awards dinner in early March. Two other students received awards named in honor of esteemed EWI Associates with ties to the department. Derek Spangler won the Harvey Castner Award for a senior who has best demonstrated how industrial experience has influenced his education. Castner, an OSU alumnus, is currently a Senior Project Manager at EWI. Joan Lee received the Karl Graff Award for excellence in scholarship and professionalism. Graff served as Chair of the OSU Welding Department prior to founding EWI in 1984.
Congratulations to these promising young engineers!
