Rail Corrosion Presentation at AREMA
By George Ritter on Friday, October 11th, 2013
Last week, I gave a paper co-authored by EWI, FRA, and Volpe on treatments applied to rails to retard underside corrosion. There was plenty of interest. Rusting rails in salt environments have caused derailments and other interrupted service. Some of the things we tried looked pretty good. If you have a situation with rusting heavy steel structures, rails, girders, etc. get in touch. Also happy to share some of the results. We’re looking for field trials, especially in rail.
