EWI Graduate Fellow, Amin Moghaddas, along with EWI colleagues, Matt Short, Nick Wiley, Karl Graff, and an OSU co-author were recently published in the March 2018 issue of the Journal of Manufacturing Science & Engineering.
“Improving Productivity in an Ultrasonic-Assisted Drilling Vertical Machining Center,” focuses on transitioning the ultrasonic-assisted drilling (UAD) process from a laboratory to a production system compatible with automated machining systems. This work details the design and development of an ultrasonic drilling module and reviews prior work in UAD, including the development of a module based on a vibration-isolating case using a standard tool holder.
