EWI recently completed high-speed testing of spot welded structures using our MTS drop tower. Load and displacement were recorded as well as strain at a single strain gage location. The velocity of the impactor at the time of contact with the structure was about 16 mph (25 kph). Each test was video recorded using a high speed camera. The purpose of the tests was to validate numerical models of spot weld failure. See the compilation of the videos below.
