For certain manufacturing applications, making selected components out of plastic via 3D printing has great advantages. A significant disadvantage for high-volume production, however, is the slow extrusion rates of polymer materials.
EWI has developed a new technique using ultrasonic power that can increase the speed of polymer extrusion. This method is discussed in Speeding Up 3D Polymer Printing Through the Power of Ultrasonics, a new paper written by EWI Senior Engineer Miranda Marcus.
