Welding Engineering Explained

By Morgan Gallagher on Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Like many welding engineers, I’ve often found it difficult to explain just what it is that a welding engineer does. A recent video produced by WOSU does an excellent job of answering that question. Personally, my favorite quote from the video is: “A welding engineer is no more a welder than a mechanical engineer is a mechanic or an electrical engineer is an electrician“. The science behind welding and joining (especially the materials aspects) can be very complex and often requires engineering judgment.

The video also highlights the relationship between EWI and the Welding Engineering program at Ohio State. Have a watch and enjoy!
