To support the continued development of hydrogen as a viable energy source, pipeline producers and transport companies must be able to confirm that network infrastructure can withstand a high-pressure hydrogen environment. Extensive testing of pipeline materials exposed to high-pressure hydrogen is absolutely essential to guarantee safety and reliability.
EWI recently conducted tests to evaluate the impact of high-pressure hydrogen on coated and uncoated pipe materials. The results are discussed in Influence of Coatings on Hydrogen Embrittlement in Small-scale Test Coupons, written by EWI associates Jesse Rhodes, Tom McGaughy, and Joshua James.
