The Additive Manufacturing Consortium (AMC), operated by EWI, will hold its Summer Meeting July 25-26, 2018. The AMC hosts quarterly meetings to bring together a diverse group of AM end users, suppliers, researchers, and stakeholders across academia, government, and industry. This upcoming meeting will take place in Boston, Massachusetts, and will feature tours of two local AM facilities, Desktop Metal and Formlabs.
Established in 2010, the AMC is dedicated to accelerating and advancing the manufacturing readiness of metal additive manufacturing technology. Its specific goals are to (1) foster technical interchange by presenting timely cases studies and current research efforts at quarterly meetings; (2) execute group sponsored, pre-competitive research projects within the AMC; (3) collaborate on government funding opportunities; and (4) provide a forum for discussing and shaping industrial and government roadmaps that define future funding.
AMC meetings include two days of technical talks, tours, and a business meeting (AMC members only), plus an informal social event to encourage extended conversation and promote collaboration. Quarterly programs are intended to benefit both experienced AM users/ practitioners and those just beginning to explore the technology.
“The program features presentations from across the AM community,” said Rutuja Samant, Acting Director of the AMC. “Our line-up includes speakers from NIST, a research institution: AP&C, a metal powder producer; and Moog, an end user, to name a few. We look forward to a very productive meeting.”
