This paper provides an overview of LUT technology, discusses advantages offered by currently available systems, and describes EWI’s work on developing comprehensive LUT capabilities.

Recent research shows that refractory metal interlayers in combination with two forge welding processes, resistance mash seam welding (RMSeW) and upset welding (UW), can be to create dissimilar weld joints. This paper provides an overview of each process, along with discussion on resultant macrostructure and bond quality.
