From Welding Design and Fabrication – The Freedonia Group, an industrial market forecast group, is predicting annual increases of 6.4% in U.S. demand for welding equipment and consumable products over the next three years, bringing the total market value to $7.1 billion by 2015. The Freedonia Group stated the increases in demand will be driven by continued recovery in the major domestic manufacturing industries and construction markets, as well as by the rising number of applications for welding.
The growth of flux core and metal core welding filler metals is specifically called out as the fastest growing product segment among welding electrodes and filler metal. This is great news for our cored wire customers – and great news for us. Our testing services provide a one stop shop for flux cored and metal cored consumables that are manufactured to AWS A5.20 and AWS A5.18 and other AWS cored wire specs. This growth should also result in a higher demand for specialty tests like diffusible hydrogen per AWS A4.3 and fillet weld testing – All of which can be done by EWI Lab Services!
